Uses

• It can be used either a single layer or a part of Duproof two-layer anti-root sealing system that is used for waterproofing and root proofing of green roof system.
• The membrane is used for interior garden system as well as for exterior roof garden systems as protection against root penetration.

METHOD OF APPLICATION The application of DUPLAS P ANTI ROOT roofing and waterproofing membranes are easy and fast by the torch–on method. Clean the surface to be waterproofed and prime with Duproof Primer and allow to dry. The drying time depends on the porosity of the substrate and the environmental conditions (approx. 0.5 - 3 hrs.) The membranes are then unrolled and aligned properly on the entire primed substrate, allowing overlap joints of 100 mm at the sides and 150 mm at the end.  Roll back the membranes without disturbing the alignment. Apply gas torch on to the contact area of the membrane and the substrate. Ensure enough melting at the bottom to form sufficient melt adhesive to stick on to the substrate. While torching, forward the roll and press firmly to bond the membrane on to the substrate. Then, smoothen out seams by means of a rounded trowel. This system of application can be used on concrete, concrete blocks, bricks, foam concrete, fibre cement board and steel substrates. Care must be taken when torch bonding with heat sensitive substrates. The APP modified sheet membrane is versatile and flexible that can be applied using pour and roll application method and cold bond applied method. DULAS P ANTI ROOTis an excellent anti root, SBS-modified bitumen waterproofing sheet membrane with a special compound to prevent the root penetration. On vertical areas spot bond the boards with a compatible bituminous or neoprene adhesive, using temporary supports in place until backfilling operation. In horizontal areas spot bonding at corners and sides of the boards will be sufficient to avoid slippage during subsequent work over the boards. Torching: In certain cases the boards can be lightly torched applied to the membrane for permanent fix Consult Duproof or your local distributor for advice. Backfilling: Concrete or application of toppings over the boards must begin as early as possible, after installation of DUBOARD. Backfilling must be carried out with care to avoid dragging the boards down.

PACKING & STORAGE

DUBOARD boards are stacked on a pallet one over the other and stretch wrapped. Store on level ground and under shade.

Priming: Apply one coat of DUPRIME solvent-based bituminous primer to all surfaces at 5-6m²/lit and allow to dry. Primed surfaces must be covered within the same day. If left exposed for longer periods, clean and re-prime before applying the membrane. Membrane Application: Position the rolls carefully with the correct orientation before the torching operation begin. Heat the lower surface of the rolls with a propane gas torch and unroll as the bitumen begins to melt. Maintain minimum 100 mm side laps and 150 mm end laps between rolls, staggering the joints where possible. All seams must be heat sealed from the top to ensure watertight laps. Protection: Once laid, it is recommended to protect the membrane from long-term exposure, construction abuse and backfill, preferably within 24 hours. On vertical areas DUBOARD protection board is recommended; on horizontal surfaces a minimum 25 mm thick sand-cement screed may be used. METHOD OF APPLICATION Substrate Preparation All substrate must be clean and free from dirt, dust, soil, grease, oil and other loose particles. Any cracks and potholes shall be repaired. Substrates that are very dry should be pre saturated with water. However, any standing water shall be removed prior to application. Mixing Pour the liquid into suitable clean container and slowly add the powder to the liquid while stirring with mechanical mixer. Mix the product using a low speed mechanical stirrer until the product is perfectly smooth and homogeneous. Application System

1. Using a trowel or brush spread the product onto the substrate in maximum layers if 2mm per coat.
2. Apply a minimum of 2 coats to provide minimum thickness of 2mm.
3. The second coat is applied when the first coat has hardened (about 6-8 hours).
4. In areas with hairline cracks or subject to heavy stresses, it is advisable to insert a square mesh (e.g. 4x4mm) fiber glass or synthetic-fiber net into the product.
5. The Product must be applied within 45 minutes of mixing at +25?c.
6. After application, in particularly dry, warm, or windy weather, it is advisable to protect the surface from rapid water evaporation.

Recommendations

• Do not apply Duflex, more than 2mm per coat.
• Do not apply Duflex, when ambient temperature is lower than 5?c
• Do not add cement, aggregates or water to Product.

PACKING AND STORAGE DUFLEXis available as a kit of 15kg powder + 5kg liquid. Keep the materials out of sun light and in dry conditions.  Shelf life is up to 12 months in a good storage protected from direct sunlight and frost. HEALTH AND SAFETY Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Protective clothing such as gloves and goggles should be worn. Treat any splashes to the skin or eyes with fresh water immediately. Provide adequate ventilation in working place to avoid inhalation of dust. TECHNICAL DATA Tolerance based on testing standard CLEANING OF TOOLS The brush and trowel is cleaned using soap and water immediately after use. Place tools in water during breaks to prevent caking up of the bristles.
